Collaboration between Fluvius and Mobiflow: A Success Story of Flexibility and Innovation in EV Solutions

Fluvius, the Flemish network company, plays a crucial role in the energy transition and has chosen a future with electric vehicles. In their search for a reliable partner for the installation and management of their charging infrastructure, they selected Mobiflow in 2021. The tender aimed to install charging stations both at home and at work, including charging cards and necessary platform support (CPO and MSP). The collaboration with Mobiflow and Unit-T turned out to be a great success. Below, you will read how this partnership took shape and how Mobiflow plays a key role in facilitating Fluvius’ electric future.

The foundation of a strong collaboration

“For us, it was essential to find a player who is independent of specific brands and can connect multiple charging solutions to a single platform,” says Dries Dennequin, fleet manager at Fluvius. Mobiflow turned out to be that partner. Not only does Mobiflow offer an extensive CPO platform for managing charging points at their various locations, but the MSP service also ensures seamless support for the more than 1,000 charging cards used daily by Fluvius employees.

Another advantage of the collaboration was Mobiflow’s proximity. “We’re practically neighbours, which allowed us to meet regularly in person, especially during the startup phase.”

The flexibility and willingness to align with our processes greatly helped us,” adds Fluvius.

In a rapidly developing sector, this form of collaboration has proven indispensable.

Efficient management and smooth integration

The Mobiflow software has greatly simplified the management of both the charging infrastructure at Fluvius sites (600 charging stations) and the home charging solutions (350 units). The platform not only provides insight into the use of the charging stations but also offers the ability to conduct analyses based on user data. “This enables us to determine where charging capacity expansion is needed and how to tackle the issue of ‘charger hogging,’ preventing charging points from being unnecessarily occupied for too long,” explains Dries Dennequin.

Additionally, Mobiflow plays a crucial role in reimbursing home charging costs for Fluvius employees. The ability to set flexible reimbursement rates and the clear communication about this to drivers is highly appreciated by Fluvius.

A key focus at the start of the project was integrating the existing charging infrastructure at Fluvius sites into Mobiflow’s new platform. Together with Mobiflow, a transition plan was developed, and the necessary adjustments were quickly and efficiently implemented.

User-friendly solutions for employees

A smooth integration and clear communication with the end-user were also critical success factors. Mobiflow and Fluvius worked closely on a communication plan for rolling out new charging cards, including clear information and a handy Mobiflow app.

A user-friendly app is essential for our employees transitioning to electric driving,” says Fluvius.

The easy access to charging stations, whether at home, at work, or in public, makes driving an EV accessible and practical.

Moving toward the future together

The partnership between Fluvius and Mobiflow continues to grow. Currently, both parties are working on new ways to further utilize user data. “We want to gain more insight into our drivers’ charging behaviour: Where do they charge, how much charging happens at home, and what are the costs of charging at public stations or fast chargers?” This information will play an important role for Fluvius’ fleet manager in the future management of the fleet.

For companies considering working with Mobiflow, Fluvius offers clear advice: “The independence of the platform is a big plus. You are not tied to specific brands of charging infrastructure and can flexibly choose the solutions that best suit your needs. The accessibility and proximity of Mobiflow were also decisive factors in the successful implementation of this project.”

Conclusion: Fluvius and Mobiflow have together developed a powerful, flexible, and future-oriented solution for the challenges of electric driving. With innovative software and close collaboration, Fluvius is stronger than ever in their electric future.
